Do NOT press the strong attack button or press forward on the control stick or anything else which might make you do anything People actually encourage lag by running torrent programs and whatnot while playing Dark Souls. The PvP is pretty broken, but it's good if you find some people who have a more fun and relaxed approach to it. The critical damage modifiers that are applied to ripostes/backstabs are weapon specific. You can see this stat in the interface (I believe) but the wiki will also display these values. So, although a weapon deals thrusting or piercing damage it doesn't necessarily deal more damage since it depends on the critical modifier iirc. Watching videos of Dark Souls 3 seems to have the exact opposite problem. Everything is just toobassy. Like they recorded all the sound effects way too close to the mic. The reposte sound effect just sounds too much. The bass also makes the sound effects seem really muffled too like I am listening to music really loud while my ears are clogged.
The Exile Greatsword, infused with dark or chaos would probably do the most damage. The Lothric Knight Greatsword does have a slightly higher AR, but the damage is split 3 ways. This is on an 99 STR/DEX/FTH/INT build, btw. But for most of the game, it'll probably be the dagger. #6.
